Hello! Welcome to the keebx homepage
keebx is a keyboard currently in the making. You can check the engineering blog below to see where I’m up to.
It’s not really set in stone, but in the end keebx will refer to the firmware, as the hardware part won’t bring anything new. A keyboard matrix is a keyboard matrix, there won’t be anything special about mine.
For now, the things to know about this project are:
•
keebx is my attempt at making a custom keyboard, from the PCB to the firmware
•
the core of the keyboard is an RP2040 (Pico), with a TinyGo firmware
•
all basic features are planned, including:
◦
hot-swappable switches
◦
custom layouts (maybe VIA support)
◦
build-in macros (without a client software)
◦
OLED LCD screen
◦
full RGB with cool and customizable animations
◦
USB-C wired, maybe bluetooth
You may ask: why bother when there are tons of open-source keyboard PCBs & firmwares available? The answer is quite simple, because it’s a very fun project that I enjoy spending time on. Secondly, I think I can do something better than what’s currently available in the DIY-keyboard community.
